OFF TO MANY GLACIER
A hiking we will go!
OK..it's only a short hike-right?
Perfect tree for a picture
Wearing lots of bug spray and have our water
Oh my, the Horseflys..they're biting through my shirt
Tuck in so they don't go up your shirt-OK
This is only a 1.8 mile hike..come on..but it's already almost
90 degrees..oh come on..OK
See you can see Red Rock falls from here..ya but you
gotta walk around the lake-Ok
On the other side-yeah...but
You are kidding me...this is farther then said!
Climbing
4 different tiers of falls with crystal clear, blue water
After hiking 2 miles up, through, over and around
we developed a new hiking style...arms flinging side to side
and over head..we've never seen so many mosquitos and flys!
Now 2 miles back-oh, I'm excited!
Are you coming? You have a long way to go...
Not a nice shot..no ice cream for you!
Made it to Many Lodge..built in Alpine Style
View from the lodge..
Many Glacier Lodge
Completed in the 1920's one of several built by the
Great Northern Railway to increase rail travel to Glacier.
Great Room of the Lodge
Chimney held in place by chains, pulleys, and
counterweights.
Nothing seemed appealing at the lodge to eat,
so we went back to St. Mary to a Cafe and had
dinner-pie was their specialty. Karen had salmon
fish n chips and I had a ruben. But the pie-
razzle-dazzle-- blueberries, blackberries and
raspberries and two scoops of ice cream.
Yummy!!
Tomorrow: we leave the mountains and head for Great Falls
