DENALI NATIONAL PARK DAY 2 JUNE 27

Today is the the day we take our ride into the wilderness--
8 hours on a school bus, 135 mile round trip, on a narrow
gravel road, being attacked by vicious mosquitoes.
Our pictures are foggy due to traveling conditions...
Dirty Windows and a hazy day.
9 o'clock and we're ready to go

Mew Seagulls make their nests in the middle of\a
river on a gravel bar, to protect it from predators

Black Spruce forest

Dall Sheep..finally an animal !
NOW where's the BEAR...
I came on this ride to see Bears!

Finally we stopped, only for 10 minutes
That's the bus
Well, OK..I have 3 layers of clothing on..I look fat.

Ansel Adams????
Beautiful wild flowers all over

Told you the road was narrow
And two buses have to pass each other

 Poly Chrome Mountain

 Pretty close to that edge--Yikes!

OK, I've had enough.  Does this bus furnish airsick bags?

 Passing Buses

Another stop--thank goodness! Take Only 5 minutes.

It's getting really foggy in areas..smells like smoke!

Eielson Visitor Center
built into the side of the hill, very Eco friendly
This is the terminus of our trip into Denali.
Now we return the same 66 miles only on the other side of the bus
for some different views..maybe we can see some BEARS.
Looks like rain which is well needed.
85 wildfires are burning in Alaska and the smoke is getting heavier
 View from the Center
Mt. McKinley out there under the clouds..Really.
Look...  a Bull Moose
 How lucky
Nice rack

Smoke in this valley...Are we safe?
A glacial river, a muddy gray color--no fish here

No Bears

Tolkat River

Poly Chrome Mountain
many shades of color

 Caribou

This concludes this day, needless to say we are beat-
nothing like an 8 hour school bus ride.
Picture taken from our tour brochure!
