We had visitors early this morning--three bunnies eating dandelions. Still no bears!
We are taking the Seward Highway north and connecting to the Sterling Highway going west to
Homer. Note: these pics were taken at 5AM...sleeping in seems to be a "no can do" sunrise at 3:43AM
Good Morning- What would a day of travel in Alaska be without
Road Construction
Quartz Lake--hard to see the color matched the sky
Waiting..Waiting..is it my turn yet?
Kenai River was lined with fisherman snagging Salmon
Absolutely fantastic fishing where the Russian River meets the
Kenai River and lodging was nice...I'd stay there.
The river was really rushing
Double ended inflatable boat lodged against bridge
Know what that feels like..boat against a bridge.
Mt. Redoubt faintly in center of snap, across Cooks Inlet
X marks the spot..it's there-really
Better -Mt. Illiamna
Lots of float planes
Darn bug splat ruined my picture!
Entering Homer Spit-a long narrow peninsula into Kachemak Bay
Town of Homer-the bay is surrounded by Cook Inlet's Ring of fire
Mt. Redoubt, Mt. Illiamna, and Mt. Augustine--active volcanos
The Homer Spit in the distance
Miss Dora is camped there-somewhere
Roadside posies
Tides out-tanker in background
There she is..the red and white one
You should recognize her by now!
The view from our campsite--they just keep on getting better
Birch trees
Tomorrow-weather permitting-going to Seldovia-only way to get there is by boat or planeOh Boy..get excited.. a water taxi over and float plane back
