ANCHORAGE, AK JUNE 21 SUMMER SOLSTICE

On our way to Anchorage, but wanted to show the dusty, rough road we had to go over.
Washboard  for  3.5 miles and soft sponge mud holes.
Into the woods we came and NO Bears, No Moose
only MOSQUITOS !

 Which side is better?
                                                                        Kenai River
                                                             Coopers Landing, AK
                                                            Yep-you got it--road work
Waiting for the Russian River Ferry
The snow is almost gone on the ridges
Check out the double-ended aluminum boats they use on the river

 Yup!
                                                                       Quartz Lake
 Camera girl having problems today

Guess it's hard to take side window shots...

It really is hard to describe the beauty of lakes and
snow capped mountains and beautiful pine forests
each different around each curve!

Western Alaska is not as rugged by Anchorage

  Portage Glacier

Seems strange seeing trailered boats with snow capped mountains.

                                                                       Turnagain Arm
Purple wildflowers all along the roadside
The road to Girdwood and the Alyeska Resort
                                                                Friday afternoon Traffic
                                                                     Turnagain Bay
 Slough
Current very rough in areas and sand becomes quicksand
and you can't get out before the tide comes rushing back in..
22 foot tides!
More wildflowers..what makes Alaska's roadways and
landscapes so beautiful...no advertising!
                                                   Seward Highway going to Anchorage

                                                         yup!

Made it to Anchorage about 1 pm, checked out three RV parks before settling on the last.
Summer Solstice is a big deal here--big celebrations, I presume it's the 22 hrs of daylight.
Drove around the city, went to the ULU Factory, Native Heritage Center (going again tomorrow),
and earthquake park.
