ST ANDREWS STATE PARK---PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL

Magnificent  park--located at the east end of Panama City Beach with the ICW(Great Lagoon) to the north and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.  Forested campgrounds right on the lagoon and sugar sand beaches. Back in the 30'S, they cut a channel through the island to the lagoon to make a safer inlet, tons of marble rock were brought in from Alabama by barge and rail to make the jetty to protect the entrance.  During WWII, gun emplacements guarded the inlet from German U Boats in the Gulf; now rest areas overlooking the jetty and
and the Gulf.  Windy today, the Gulf was crashing in and exploding over the jetty.

For you campers, this is a park you don't want to miss.

Took a walk around the campground after hamburgers on the grill, saw 4 deer grazing between the campsites--only 10 yards away.

For those of you interested:  we are averaging 9.5 miles per gal. pulling the jeep.
Everything is functioning as it should.

Tomorrow, leaving Florida and heading north to Mississippi.

SO FAR, SO GOOD
