ANTELOPE ISLAND----GREAT SALT LAKE, UTAH MAY 22 & 23

On our way to Salt Lake City, the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island State Park.

Leaving Capitol Reef National Park

Wasatch Mountains

SALT LAKE CITY
Located in the valley between the Wasatch Mountain Range , the Great Salt Lake and the
desert, it is very smoggy --a continuous city from Provo to the South and Ogden to the North.

The seven mile causeway to Antelope Island State Park- hazy and windy from the desert sands.
First view of the Great Salt Lake---75 miles long, 30 miles wide--America's Dead Sea.
This is not what we think of as an island in Florida---but a mountain in the Great Salt Lake--
15 miles long, 7 miles wide

                                                          Great Salt Lake

Our official greeter---Buffalo    500 roam this island free along with Pronghorn                  Antelope, Mule Deer, Bighorn Sheep, Coyote, and many species of birds

Our campsite from far off, 50 mph winds at night--Dora was rockin' and rollin'
                                                       Windy and cold

View from our campsite, Promontory Mountains in the background--Promontory Summit where the
meeting of the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific railroads met, 1869  Golden Spike National Park

                                                           White Rock Beach

                                                  Fielding Garr Ranch

Hiking up the mountain, Saw many Antelope

Shoreline,  we camped up that hill
Sunset over the Great Salt Lake

Next stop, Jackson, WY and Grand Teton National Park
