CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK

Long drive today, 271 miles, from Mesa Verde RV Park to Fruita, UT.  But what a drive!!!
Spectacular scenery!! Spectacular Day!!! Follow along......       (photos by Karen)
Watch the topography change from the rolling green meadows of southwest Colorado
 to the rocky canyons of Utah.

ENTERING  CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK
AND THE TOWN OF FRUITA--
AN OASIS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT.....
SETTLED BY MORMON PIONEERS AROUND 1848.
10 FAMILIES LIVED HERE OFF AND ON UNTIL 1969 WHEN
THE US GOVT. PURCHASED FOR THIS PARK.
ALSO RAISED CATTLE, HOGS, AND SHEEP
