Niagara Falls, NY...looking at Ontario, Canada
After seeing the Falls, we drove to Buffalo, NY
to see one of Frank Lloyd Wright's houses
Views of Buffalo
This is the Darwin Martin house,
designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1905
The Martin's lived here until 1930; when the market
crashed, the Martins lost everything and just walked
away from the house. It was left empty until 1952.
Purchased recently by a foundation, the house is being
renovated to its original grandeur.
For being built in 1905, it is as modern and liveable
as a house built today. The windows were all
stained glass with the classic Frank Lloyd Wright design.
(to replace the windows today, cost would be $22,000 ea)
Fortunately, some of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed
furniture is still there. This was a real treat seeing this house.
Tomorrow more touring around the area
