This is our campsite at Four Mile Creek State Park.

Just 4 miles to the west is Fort Niagara

 Geese, Geese, and more Geese..
watch from above and where your feet go!

Lighthouse at Fort Niagara

Built by the French to protect their interest in New
France, the main Castle was built in 1726.

 North Blockhouse
 South blockhouse, with berms.
in front of the brick wall was a dry moat that protected
the soldiers.
Road to the main gate, protected by five cannons

Very elaborate quarters for officers and family in 1726

Built by the French, taken by the British, taken by the
Americans, taken again by the British, and finally,
after the War of 1812, by the Americans

After the fort:
We were quite intrigued by the house that Frank Lloyd Wright
designed and built for the Martins in Buffalo...
so we visited the summer cottage
he designed for the Martins on Lake Erie.
 GrayCliff
This was Mrs. Martin's idea, with Frank Lloyd Wright's
design.

Front of house overlooking the Lake
Mr. Wright designed a pool for this area;  however,
Mrs. Martin didn't want to swim in a pool only the Lake.
Staircase to the beach, it has a bridge to it, but removed
for safety.
This house as with the previous house is being
renovated. Again, this was a very interesting house.

We took a drive to Lockport, NY
 Erie Canal Lock 35
 Lock 34
Someone didn't want to see another lock

Original locks on right, modern lock on left.

It was a long day!
Tomorrow: There is so much to see in this are that we decided
 to stay another day......
